The Donkey's First Christmas
The Donkey’s First Christmas is a children’s Christmas book with a difference.
The story of how the baby Jesus was born in a stable after Mary and Joseph travelled from Nazareth to Bethlehem has been told countless times – but never before from the perspective of the donkey who carried Mary the whole way.
Armed with a sense of humour and fun, The Donkey’s First Christmas presents the Nativity in a fresh and exciting way. Children love the adorably cheeky donkey who overcomes his stubbornness; and marvel at how such a seemingly useless mule can become quite so useful.
As children watch the donkey play a huge part in the Greatest Story Ever Told by unwittingly using his talents to major avail, they discover that what they have, and who they are, can make a significant difference too.
You may have heard what the shepherds did, the angels sang or the wise men knew … but who ever heard what the donkey had to say?
This is the donkey’s story of a surprise encounter and how it changed him.
The book is available from Amazon, Waterstones and all major booksellers in both traditional and digital formats.

Other books
The Donkey’s First Christmas is Susanne’s best known piece of children’s literature, but she has worked in publishing since having her second child.
Before writing about the adorable (if a little cheeky) donkey and his experiences with Mary, Joseph and Jesus, she wrote, co-designed and illustrated children’s Bible story books Jonah and the Fish and Noah and the Rainbow, and and translated and retold some of Hans Christian Anderson’s best loved fairy tales in the Hans Christian Anderson puzzle book.
